Addressing a hurriedly called press conference through a video link from Toronto, PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has announced to challenge the anti-terrorism court’s (ATC) verdict in the Lahore High Court. He said that we did not expect that even IGP and DIG will be summoned, adding that IGP has been called on the contention that he was present in his office at 9:55 am on the morning of June 17, 2014. PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that our basic demand in the private complaint regarding Model Town tragedy was to summon the Sharif brothers which has not been accepted. He, however, added in the same breath that we would use our legal right for their summoning. He said that sacrifice of scapegoats will not be enough. He said that it is hoped that the police officials will not speak up untimely like Soulat Mirza, adding that they will have to speak every time to get justice. PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that he still holds on to his comment of “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un”, saying that funeral of Panama is ready and only burial is left. Initiating the arguments in the antiterrorism court in connection with the private complaint in the Model Town case, the lawyers of PAT have said that the tragedy is not merely an accident but a consequence of pre-meditated strategy. They said that the barriers were placed before the residence of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri on the orders of the Lahore High Court in the presence of SP Ayaz Salim. They said that he then submitted his written statement in the court regarding the safety measures. The Model Town police detailed 16 police officials for security of these barriers who remained posted till the morning of June 17. read more...

He said that the ruling family residing in the PM House is using democracy as a shield to protect its ill-gotten wealth.
