Twenty political parties discuss joint political strategy
A joint meeting of twenty large political parties was held at the central secretariat of PAT the other day. The proposal of fielding consensus candidates was discussed in the meeting. In order to work out the details, a nine-member central organizing council was set up under the convenership of PAT central Core Committee member Chaudhry Fayyaz Warraich. Iqbal Dar, president of Muslim League (Junejo) and Dr Amjad, Secretary General of All-Pakistan Muslim League will be organizer and coordinator of the council respectively. President of Awam Muslim League and former provincial minister Riaz Fatyana, Amjad Warraich, Shaukat Ch, Faraz-ul-Haq Bhatti, and Rao Haseeb Shah will be deputy conveners.
The participants of the meeting demanded that the reports of Justice Baqir Najfi and News leak should immediately be published in order to establish justice system in the country; the future of Fata should be decided through referendum; spoken languages and all religions should be included in the census; Pakistanis living abroad should also be counted in the census. The meeting also demanded that the NAP should be implemented according to letter and spirit and the accused nominated in the mega corruption scandals should be investigated and meted out exemplary punishments.
The meeting was attended by Iqbal Dar of Muslim League Junejo, Fayyaz Warraich, Sajid Mahmood Bhatti and Arif Ch of PAT, Dr Amjad and Dr Farrukh Cheema of All-Pakistan Muslim League, Rao Haseeb Ahmad of Sunni Ittehad Council, Siraj-ul-Haq Bhatti of All Pakistan Minority Alliance, Shaukat Ali of Mazdoor Mahaz, Dr Khalid Aftab of Insani Haqooq Party, Manzoor Bhatti of Tehreek-e-Vifaaq Pakistan, Mian Aftab of Awam Muslim League, Mian Gohar Ali Khan of Muslim League Council, and Pir Akhtar Rasool Qadri of JUP.
The leaders termed the consensus among the participating political parties as being beneficial for the masses. All parties will formulate strategy for a joint electoral course of action and recommendations so worked out will be sent to the top party leadership for approval. Dr Amjad Ali of All-Pakistan Muslim League will be host of the next meeting of the political parties.
