Addressing a seminar held at the PAT central secretariat in connection International Labour Day, PAT President Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi has said that those who came into power on the vote bank of the labourers are busy in filling the banks with national wealth. He said that those entrusted with the task of formulating policies for the workers are their biggest enemy. In his special message on the international day of workers being celebrated across the world including Pakistan on May 1, PAT chief Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has attributed the day to 20 labourers who got killed in Turbat last month while earning bread and butter for their families. Later on, while talking to media, Malik Nasir, Mayor of Hounslow Borough, said that it is a welcome development that local government elections are being conducted in cantonment boards. He said that there is no better and more effective system than the local government system for service of the people at their doorsteps. Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that nations faced such terminal challenges only when they broke with ideology of their founding fathers. He said that it was unfortunate that the teachings of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal had become alien in a country which was founded on his vision. Pakistan Awami Tehreek Lahore has announced the names of its candidates for elections in cantonment boards. The candidates will contest elections on the symbol of ‘bucket’. The electoral manifesto titled ‘cleanliness is half of the faith and every street is lit’ has also been prepared. The party will enter into seat adjustment with the like-minded parties in areas where it would not field its candidates. A five-member committee has been constituted for this purpose. read more...
