Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has decided to hold protests across the country at the district level on the 17th of June in remembrance of the martyrs of Model Town tragedy. PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has written a letter to all district organizations in this regard in which the directions have been given to the local chapters to hold protests against injustice on the occasion of the completion of 8 years of the Model Town massacre. read more...
Former Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs and intellectual Mian Khursheed Mahmood Kasuri has said that Pakistan is in dire need of a professional Planning Commission like the one we had in the 1960s and 1970s and a long-term strategy to address the prevailing economic, social and political crises. PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that dispensation of justice for the oppressed of Model Town tragedy and punishment to the killers is the responsibility of the judiciary. He said it is a matter of great concern that those involved in the tragedy have come to power. The 33rd foundation day of Pakistan Awami Tehreek was celebrated across the country. The ceremonies were held in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Multan and other districts. The cake was cut and a special Dua was made for the safety, security and progress of the country. PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that the only legal demand for the impartial investigation into the Model Town tragedy has not been met in the last seven years and the oppressed continue to look for justice even today. He said that the families of the martyrs of Model Town tragedy have become a shuttlecock between the Supreme Court in Islamabad and Lahore High Court in Lahore for fair and neutral investigation. read more...
Addressing a workers convention in Abbottabad, PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) should stay away from the PMLN. He asked PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari not to provide it with politicaloxygen and space to return to power, stating that they are involved in Model Town killings. After the hearing of private complaint in the Model Town case in the anti-terrorism court, Naeem-ud-Din Chaudhry Advocate, who is legal spokesperson for PAT, spoke to the media and briefed it about the proceedings. He said that one principal accused Capt. (r ) Usman, who is Commissioner Lahore these days, had petitioned the court for acquittal in the case. He termed the sale and purchase of votes and the switching of loyalty as the biggest political evil.
