PAT announces support for Bilawal Bhutto for NA-127 contest
Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has announced to support Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the chairman of the PPP, for the election in NA-127 in Lahore.
This announcement came from PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur while talking to the media during the visit of Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to the party’s central secretariat in Model Town Lahore.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that Shaheed Mohtarama Benazir Bhutto was a life member of MQI and had a relationship of mutual respect with Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri. He said that with the life membership of Bilawal Bhutto, this relationship has now moved into the second generation. “We welcome and are elated by this strengthening of the bond,” he said.
PAT Secretary General said that the PAT candidates are contesting elections in several constituencies on the party’s electoral symbol and the manifesto.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari visited the central secretariat and laid the floral wreath at the martyrs’ memorial. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the demand for fair and impartial investigation into the Model Town tragedy is justified. He said that getting justice is the right of the affected families, stating that all legal hurdles in the way of dispensation of justice should be removed.
Bilawal Bhutto filled the form of life membership of MQI and said that his mother was also a life member. He said that he is happy to revive and strengthen the relationship with MQI.
The PPP Chairman said that MQI has been playing a leading role in communicating the Islamic message of peace and harmony in the world. He highlighted the need for putting an end to hatred in society and politics. He also appreciated the efforts, services and contributions of Shaykh-ul-Islam for the promotion of peace and elimination of extremism.
Senior PAT leaders led by Khurram Nawaz Gandapur namely Mian Zahid Islam, Raja Zahid Mahmood, Mian Rehan Maqbool, Noorullah Siddiqui, Arif Chaudhry, Sardar Umer Daraz, Naeem-ud-Din Chaudhry Advocate, Mian Kashmif, Rashid Chaudhry Advocate, Jawwad Hamid and the office-holders of PAT Lahore welcomed Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and his delegation on their arrival at the secretariat.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that he has held detailed consultations with Raja Pervez Ashraf and Nayyar Bokhari with reference to NA-127, adding that the leaders of both the parties are in constant touch.
Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari also visited Gosha-e-Durood.
