The central leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid left for Dubai on Friday to welcome Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri and will accompany him to Islamabad on June 23. Haleem Adil Sheikh, the party’s provincial president, had flown out to Dubai a day earlier and in a telephonic conversation informed The News that the entire PML-Q leadership planned to accord a major welcome to Qadri and then head directly to the federal capital. read more...

Qadri’s TMQ, other political outfits demand three-member SC enquiry commission

An informal consultative meeting attended by the representatives of seven political and religious parties at the International Secretariat of Minhajul Quran on Friday demanded the government set up a judicial commission comprising three senior judges of the Supreme Court to probe into the Model Town tragedy. LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahir-ul-Qadri on Friday refused to accept Law Minister Rana Sanaullah’s removal saying that it is not sufficient, Dunya News reported. PAT chief said that provincial law minister Rana Sanaullah’s removal is insufficient, expressing his fears that a single member commission will term every one not guilty. LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehrik Chief Tahirul Qadri on Friday said an investigation team comprising representatives of the ISI, MI, and IB and a judicial commission of three Supreme Court (SC) judges should probe the Tuesday carnage in Model Town. Addressing a press conference through video-link from Canada, Qadri said a joint investigation team and a three-member panel of SC judges had been formed to investigate the attack on TV anchor Hamid Mir. “Why can’t a similar investigation be launched into Tuesday’s police attack that killed 12 people and injured at least 80?” Qadri said. read more...

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehrik chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has said they would accept an inquiry by a joint investigation team which consisted of representatives from Inter-Services Intelligence, Military Intelligence, and Intelligence Bureau, and a judicial commission comprising three impartial judges of the Supreme Court (SC). Rana Resigns, Qadri Says Not Enough

The Law Minister, Rana Sanaullah has resigned from his post and has sent his resignation letter to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif. The Chief Minister revealed in a press conference this Friday evening that he had asked the Law Minister to resign due to the Model Town Lahore incident where Dr. Tahirul Qadri’s residence and the Trust Minhaj-ul-Quran were attacked by the Punjab police. The attack included beating and direct gunshots by the policemen at every man they could find in that area. More than eighty people were injured and eight were declared dead on the spot. Punjab CM issued orders for firing, must resign: Qadri

LAHORE: Dr Tahirul Qadri, the chief of Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT), while rejecting the removal of Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and terming it an eyewash, said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had ordered the police to open firing at the Minhajul Quran Secretariat in Model Town, Lahore, and he should tender his resignation.
