Reorganization of the Agricultural Research Council is Imperative: Khurram Nawaz Gandapur
Secretary General of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, has said that the reorganization of the Agricultural Research Council is essential. Agricultural targets have not been met, and the agriculture sector is moving in reverse.
He said that with each passing year, food security threats are intensifying. The lives of 250 million citizens depend on food. Due to the water crisis and failed agricultural research, Pakistan is on the verge of becoming a famine-stricken country.
The PAT leader added that Pakistan has failed to benefit from the agricultural progress of countries like China, Brazil, and India. There was a time when Pakistan’s textile industry, rice, and other agricultural products held a prominent position in the global market. That position has now been lost. The responsibility for this lies with an inactive Agricultural Council, an irresponsible agriculture department, and political instability.
He further stated that the biggest problem with Pakistan’s rulers, bureaucrats, and experts is that the elite class is overly eloquent. Their main interest lies in making foreign trips, speaking fluent or broken English, and collecting travel allowances. These individuals consider themselves as Aristotle and Plato in every matter and dismiss valuable suggestions through self-created philosophies. They are unwilling to seriously implement any good advice. And so, 75 years have passed, and the agriculture sector has been utterly ruined
