PAT Secretary General’s message on Labour Day

Constitution guarantor of rights of all including working classes: Khurram Nawaz Gandapur

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, the Secretary General of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, has stated that inflation has eliminated the distinction between laborers and non-laborers. He said that due to inflation, now every person is poor and every person is a laborer. He said that the decisions made by governments are not implemented, and when a laborer seeks justice in the courts, decisions are not made for years, resulting in compromising the rights of the laborer. These delayed processes have opened the doors to exploitation.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur made these remarks in his message on the occasion of International Labour Day. He said that more than 100 million people in the country are living below the poverty line. He said that workers do not receive compensation according to inflation rates and high prices, adding that electricity, gas, and water bills have turned everyone into a laborer. He said that people do not have money to buy food, but they are forced to pay bills.

The PAT leader said that Pakistan is the only country in the region where it is no longer possible to maintain the relationship between the body and breath for human beings. He said that the means are still available, but due to mismanagement, indecency, and disregard, blessings have disappeared. He said that governments are established but they have no practical existence. Decision-makers in governments do not even consider criticism. The concept of unsuccessful governance is emerging.

He said that the constitution is the only document on which the protection of the rights of workers, as well as the thoughts and ages of every class, is possible. In Pakistan, those workers who have obtained social security are not even equivalent to a pinch of salt. He said that laws exist but there is no institution to enforce them. If a laborer raises his voice against the excesses committed against him, a powerful factory owner fires him from his job. Exploitative behavior can only be changed through the supremacy of the constitution and the law.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) declared the laborer to be a friend of Allah and termed livelihood earned by one’s own hands as the best form of halal livelihood. He said that Allah's Prophet (peace be upon him) has commanded that the wages of the laborer should be paid before his sweat dries, but here, compensation is not even given after the blood dries.
