Former Punjab Governor & senior PPP leaders call on Khurram Nawaz Gandapur
Senior PPP leader and former deputy Speaker of Sindh Assembly, Shehla Raza and General Secretary PPP Lahore Sonia Khan as well as former Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar called on PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur in his office in Model Town Lahore and discussed the political situation including the matters related to the elections in NA-127 in Lahore.
Speaking on the occasion, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that it is through the supremacy of the Constitution and rule of the law that tragedies such as the one that happened in Model Town in 2014 can be stopped. He said that the judiciary is the last hope of justice and supporter of the oppressed.
He said that it has been nine years since the Model Town incident but the families of the martyrs have not been given justice. He said they are peace-loving people and demanding justice from the prevalent system. He said that hundreds of hearings have taken place but the wheel of justice remains stuck where it was nine years ago, adding that those involved in the incident are getting acquitted one after the other.
Agreeing with Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Chaudhry Sarwar said on the occasion that there is no doubt that restlessness and social disorder is created when the people do not get justice. He said that he waged a peaceful struggle for the rights of the masses and the rule of law all his life. He said that they would establish real democracy in Pakistan where the rights of the people would be ensured.
Ms. Shehla Raza thanked the PAT leader for announcing his party’s support for PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in the NA-127 polls. She said that PPP has always been a voice of the poor and less privileged sections of society.
