Hundreds of Christian political, social & community leaders joint PAT
Hundreds of Christian political, social and community leaders and representatives have announced to join Pakistan Awami Tehreek and support the PAT candidates in the upcoming local government elections.
The Christian community leaders made this important announcement at a reception held in their honour at the PAT Central Secretariat. PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Noorullah Siddiqui, Malik Karamat Ali, Raja Zahid Mahmood, Imtiaz Awan, Raja Nadeem and Raja Azhar Abbas welcomed the members of the Christian community on their joining the PAT.
Speaking on the occasion William Imran and Victor Masih, the leaders of Christian community, said that Pakistan Awami Tehreek is the representative organisation of the poor and the middle classes. They said that PAT leader Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri as always talked about the protection of the rights of minorities, peace and interfaith dialogue.
Criticizing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government, the Christian leaders said that life has become miserable and an economic nightmare for the poor under the government of Imran Khan. They said that all the promises that he made with them before coming to power have evaporated in the thin air. They said that Christian community will wage a joint peaceful struggle with PAT to get rid of the oppressive system. They said set that there was a time when the members of the Christian community used to be targeted but now their leaders are also being taken out.
Expressing his views on the occasion, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that we strongly condemn the killing of paster William Siraj in Peshawar. He said that we demand that the way the family of Sri Lankan national was financially helped, the same assistance should also be announced for the family of slain William Siraj.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that that PAT has always included Christian brothers and sisters in its welfare, educational, political and social activities. He said that there isn't even a single mass marriage ceremony held under the banner of Minhaj Welfare Foundation in which deserving Christian couples are not included.
Addressing the reception, Raja Azhar Abbas said that we welcome the Christian brothers and sisters who have joined Pakistan Awami Tehreek. He said that PAT is stands for the rights of the poor, labourers and workers. He said that we have respect and love for everyone irrespective of any discrimination of caste, creed and colour.
The Christian community members came to the Pakistan Awami Tehreek Secretariat in the form of a large really where they were welcomed warmly. Rehan Masih, Umar Gul, Nadeem, Atif Latif, Ernest Gul, Zulqernain, Danial, Wilson Masih, Javed Masih and others also spoke in the ceremony.
