PAT Sargodha holds demonstration to protest price hike
PAT workers held a demonstration against price hike and massive inflation in front of Sargodha Press Club under the leadership of central president Raja Zahid. The PAT leaders said that people are greatly worried over the way things have gone beyond their purchasing capacity. They said that Pakistan has become the fourth most expensive country in the world. They said that the price hike has less to do with the international circumstances and more with bad governance. They said that no one listens to the government after it sets the prices of edibles with the result that the writ of the state is challenged every day. They said that wages of the workers have fallen by half due to inflation, adding that Pakistanis were not more worried in the past than they are today. They said that representing the voice of the people is our responsibility. They further stated that the purpose of the protest is to draw the attention of the government to this important issue.
The PAT leaders lamented that the government's attention is focused on resolving the issues of the common man. They said that people are dying of starvation, as prices escalate on a daily basis leading to erosion in the buying power of the people. They said that it has become nearly impossible for the common man to make both ends meet. They said that PAT will continue to speak up for the poor and urge the government to take steps to reduce the increase in prices.
Senior PAT leaders namely Dr Zafar Ali, Naz Qureshi, Chaudhry Faheem Haider Cheema, Muhammad Imran Malik, Muhammad Iqbal Kashif and others also spoke on the occasion.
