PAT concerned on law & order situation & heaps of garbage in Lahore
PAT leaders have expressed their deep concern on the fast deteriorating law and order situation and the piling heaps of garbage and dirt in Lahore. They said that Lahore is a historic city known for various reasons in the world and is also the final resting place of Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal and Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA). They said that the lack of focus on resolving the problems of the metropolitan has added to the woes of the citizens. They said that the incidents of street crimes, killings, and robberies have put a question mark on the performance of the district administration.
President PAT Central Punjab Basharat Jaspal, General Secretary Mian Rehan Maqbool, Afzal Gujjar, and other leaders made these remarks during a meeting held at the central secretariat. The provincial and district party leaders also attended the meeting.
Basharat Jaspal said that millions of rupees from the taxpayers' money are spent on the waste management and cleanliness of the city. He said that the transparent and judicious use of public funds is the responsibility of the rulers. He said that the problems of the people that can be resolved through better service delivery continue to be aggravated. He regretted the fact that these problems are on the increase by the day. He said that the people are looking up to the rulers to rid them of lawlessness, skyrocketing inflation and dirt spread across the provincial capital.
Mian Rehan Maqbool, while speaking on the occasion, said that the city of parks, gardens, and flowers is turning into heaps of dirt. He said that the people are bearing the consequences of the conflict between the provincial government and the waste management companies. He warned that the continued heaps of dirt can lead to the outbreak of different medicines. He said that the concerned institutions will have to be activated so that the city is rid of the developing crisis of uncleanliness. He said that all efforts need to be geared towards saving Lahore from becoming Karachi.
