Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri welcomes Chief Justice’s statement on reforming the investigation system
PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri welcomed the Chief Justice’s statement to modernize and improve the system of investigation with an aim to bring about revolutionary changes in the country’s justice system. He expressed his best wishes to the CJP to translate his intent to reality.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri made these remarks while talking to the leaders of Awami Lawyers Forum the other day. The senior lawyers also briefed him regarding the current status of the Model Town case. He said that confining the investigation process to the discretionary powers of someone has closed the doors of justice on the weak and the oppressed. He said that justice has been murdered in several cases including Model Town due to defective, biased and faulty probe with the result that the cases continue to linger on and the aggrieved party keeps looking for the constitutional right of fair and impartial investigation.
The PAT Chairman said that it took him and his party four and a half years only to get a right to the fair and neutral investigation in the Model Town case and had to bear an unbearable financial cost in the process. He said that it is due to such indefinitely hanging cases that the affected parties are so much frustrated that they take the route of reconciliation with the oppressors. He said that if the CJP is able to fix the problems in the investigation and prosecution departments, it will be his great service to the country, which will help bring the system of justice on track, paving the way for administration of quick and inexpensive justice for the citizens.
Dr Qadri said that lack of justice leads to violent attitudes, social problems and consequently terrorism in a society, which has to pay a heavy cost in terms of its peace, security and cohesion.
