Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri demands audit of funds collected for earthquake affectees
PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has demanded an audit of the billions of rupees that were collected from the country and abroad for rehabilitation of the earthquake affectees following the massive earthquake on the unfortunate day of October 8. He said that where the people set up examples of sacrifice, selflessness and human brotherhood, there the government department cut sorry figure and demonstrated insensitivity. He said that October 8 makes one grieved, stating that he prays to Allah Almighty to give high station to those who were killed on this day in a massive earthquake and the country may not have to suffer such a calamity again.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri made these remarks while talking to a delegation of Minhaj Ulama Council yesterday. He said that following the earthquake, Minhaj Welfare Foundation sprang to action and reached the affected areas of Rawala Kot, Bagh, Bala Kot, Muzzafarabad, and Hazar Division. MWF set up medical camps and provided food and tents to the affected people. He said that in addition to immediate rescue and relief, MWF carried out a long term planning whereby the hundreds of the orphan children were housed in a state of the art Orphan Care Home in Lahore where excellent arrangements have been made for provision of quality education and upbringing.
Dr Qadri said that a number of children have completed their education and are living a life of dignity. He said that Aagosh has become a model institution dedicated to the service of the humanity.
