PAT questions appointment of Azam Suleman as Interior Secretary
PAT Spokesperson has reacted very strongly to the appointment of Major (r ) Azam Suleman as the Federal Interior Secretary. In a statement, he said that Major Azam Suleman was Home Secretary Punjab when the Model Town tragedy was perpetrated. He said that Suleman attended a crucial meeting held on June 16, 2014, a day ahead of the tragedy, in which the decision to perpetrate Model Town tragedy was taken. He said that the retired Major Azam Suleman represented the Punjab Chief Minister in the meeting. He said that the meeting, which was presided over by Rana Sanaullah, was also attended by Dr Toquir Shah as representative of the Chief Minister.
The Spokesman further said that Azam Suleman refused to hand over the JIT and Justice Baqir Najafi Commission reports to the family members of the martyrs in his capacity as the Home Secretary. Plus he is also in the list of the accused whose summons have been requested by the PAT. He said that the anti-terrorism court has also summoned Capt. (r ) Usman, DG Punjab Food Authority, due to his role in the tragedy and despite being an accused, he was posted as Director General of Punjab Food Authority. He said that we have come to know through media reports that the Prime Minister has ordered to separate the accused from their positions.
