PAT holds seminar to celebrate Defence Day of Pakistan
Pakistan Awami Tehreek arranged a ‘National Defence Day’ Seminar to pay tributes to the martyrs on the 6th of September, 2018. PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur presided over the seminar whereas the distinguished guests on the occasion included Punjab provincial minister Mian Aslam Iqbal, Chaudhry Afzal Gujjar, and Shifaqat Mughal. A large number of workers of PAT including provincial and district office holders of the party were also in attendance.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal said that the 6th of September is not like any other day. Rather it is a milestone in the history of the country. He said that the armed forces together with the people of Pakistan fought the war of 1965 bravely with their emotions, not bodies. He said that while one can be conquered physically, one’s emotions neither die nor get conquered. He said that they were the exalted people who were called upon to defend the motherland 18 years after the establishment of the motherland and they defended its dignity and honour with their blood. They sacrificed their today for our better tomorrow 48 years ago, stating that we will never be able to thank them enough.
Delivering his speech, PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the 6th of September is the day of reiteration of our pledge that we are ever ready to make any sacrifice in the defence of the motherland. He said that no one can cast an evil eye on our country in the presence of our valiant armed forces who remain imbued with the desire for martyrdom. He said whether it is about defending the territorial integrity of the country or a decisive battle against the terrorists, the officers and soldiers of the armed forces have given exemplary sacrifices in the line of the duty but did not let our national security suffer in any manner. He said that the whole nation is presenting its rich tributes to the martyrs of 1965 war. He said that it was a shared struggle of our armed forces and the people of Pakistan which will continue to serve as a beacon of light for the posterity.
Mian Rehan Maqbool said in his talk that the 1965 war is a metaphor for valour and honour of the nation. He said that both the people and the armed forces jointly defended the territorial integrity of the motherland and gave an unmistakable message to the world that we are a living nation who knows how to rise to the challenge. He said that the story of courage and commitment written by our officers and soldiers will always be remembered with passion and fondness.
Chaudhry Muhammad Afzal Gujjar, president of PAT Lahore, said on the occasion that the 6th of September is a glorious chapter in our political and defence history that reflected unprecedented unity between our armed forces and the people. He said that we are proud of our martyrs and the ghazis who did not hesitate to offer their life on line for the sake of the motherland. He said that Pakistan has the power, and wherewithal to foil any act of aggression.
PAT Lahore General Secretary also paid his rich tributes to the armed forces. He said that our forces have continued to render sacrifices whether it is war triggered by India or war on terrorism. In doing so, we have created history.
