Pakistan Awami Lawyers Movement formed
PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri formally approved the establishment of Pakistan Awami Lawyers Movement. Speaking on the occasion, he said that together with the legal fraternity of Pakistan, we would accelerate our struggle to get rid of the obsolete system and introduce reforms. He said that the PAT is the only voice for change in the rigged system and its long struggle is on record in this regard.
Dr Qadri expressed these views while speaking to the first meeting of the newly constituted body of the lawyers belonging to the PAT here the other day. The meeting was attended by Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Lehrasab Gondal Advocate, Abdul Qayyum Khan Advocate, MH Shaheen Advocate, Asif Sulehyria Advocate, Naeem-ud-Din Ch Advocate, Sardar Ghazanfar Advocate, Shakeel Mumka Advocate, Mushtaq Nonari Advocate, and other lawyers.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that we want an active role of the legal fraternity and the patriotic citizens for supremacy of law, restoration of real democracy, provision of cheap justice, and reining in the shrewd bureaucrats and the corrupt political elite. He said that honest bureaucrats and politicians stand shoulder to shoulder with the lawyers and the people for electoral reforms and making the future of the country safe and secure.
Dr Qadri said that it was a lawyer who established this country and these are the members of the legal fraternity who will save it. He said that those corrupt elements who should have been behind bars have become the leaders of the nation on the basis of their wealth and the rigged system. He said that distinction between the leaders and looters have ended under the present system.
The PAT Chairman said that the Chief Justice had promised two and half months ago on the appeal of Bisma Amjad, daughter of Shaheed Tanzila Amjad that the hearings of the Model Town case will take place on daily basis and that all pending appeals before the High Court will be decided in fifteen days. He said that the head of the honorable bench was on an Umra and there is a news that he has returned but added in the same breath that the parties have not been given any new date of hearing so far.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the elections without accountability and reforms will produce the same results as before and the current set of crises will only deepen after the elections.
