PAT spokesperson clarifies the incident at hostel
A spokesperson of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has clarified that the incident that was attributed to the hostel of Minhaj University Lahore has nothing to do with it. He said that the female students of the University reside in a separate hostel whose management is looked after by PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur. He said that the hostel management has put in place discipline and rules and regulations on the request of the parents under which no female student is allowed to leave hostel after 6 pm without any cogent reason or without prior permission.
The spokesperson said that Khurram Nawaz Gandapur took a strict notice of breach of the discipline and a rumpus by a group of hostel residents upon being refused to leave hostel after 6 pm. He dissuaded the students from leaving the hostel premises in their larger benefit and to avoid any untoward incident from happening. No information of the programme that the students had arranged was given to the hostel management and due to this, they were not allowed to go out.
The spokesperson further said that the talk of substandard arrangements in the hostel on the occasion of Sehr and Iftar are self-concocted and misleading. He said that the matters have been resolved in consultation with the students.
