PML-N’s all claims to revive economy are pack of lies: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri
Commenting on the recently announced budget for 2018-19 and the Economic Survey of the PML-N government, PAT leader Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that the government of the disqualified lot committed an unethical act by presenting the budget for the whole fiscal year. He said that presentation of the budget was the prerogative of the next government. The N League violated the mandate of the three provinces and respect of vote in this regard.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that those who claimed to break the begging bowl added a total of 62% to the debt during their stay in power; bulldozed the legal ceiling of keeping the debt below 60% of GDP and did not fulfill even a single promise such as provision of clean drinking water, education and health facilities and the end of load-shedding. He said that the ruling elite spent five years of their mandate by hatching plots against the national institutions and indulging in luxuries.
The PAT leader said that all claims to revive the national economy are a pack of lies. He said that trade deficit in 2013 was $16.6 billion, which has now shot up to $30 billion. In 2013, the budget deficit was 5.5%, which has now increased to 6% and the overall debt ceiling which was supposed to be less than 60% of GDP has gone up to 67%.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri further said that the low-income groups were adversely affected by the government policies during the last five years. He said that minimum wage in 2013 was Rs. 10,000, which has now been increased to Rs. 15,000 in five years which is disproportionately low compared with the ratio of price hike. He said that the working classes such as the farmers, clerks, lady health workers and the blind people took out protest demonstrations against the present government.
Dr Qadri said that the N League decimated the economy, adding that what else is a greater incompetence than the fact that the finance minister who ran economy during last five years is an absconder and he does not have the moral courage to stand up to the allegations against him. He said that the performance of the present rulers can be gauged from the fact that they could not provide clean drinking water to the people in last five years.
