UN duty bound to intervene in Burma: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri
PAT leader Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that barbaric and humiliating treatment of the Muslims who have been living in Burma for last 150 years at the hands of the Burmese government is condemnable. He asked the UN, OIC and the Islamic world to take notice of ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya Muslims.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri made these remarks while talking to the members of the central Core Committee yesterday. He said that humanity is getting humiliated due to genocide of the innocent people. The men, women and children are being mercilessly massacred. He said that the worst human rights violations are taking place, adding that so much so that the UN Human Rights Council is informing the world of the scale of atrocities and despite this information, delay in action by the international community is beyond comprehension.
Dr Qadri said that the racially biased attitude of the Burmese government is in contravention of the universal human rights and norms of civilized conduct. He asked the Islamic world to immediately set up a fund for assistance of the Rohingya Muslims and design a road map for their protection, warning that any more insensitivity and silence will be akin to supporting the oppressor. He asked the Muslim world to pay heed to the calls for help by the helpless and poor Muslim community of Burma. He said that women are being raped, and the houses are being put on fire. He lamented as to when will the UN and other human rights bodies take notice of history’s worst cruelties.
The PAT leader said that the fundamental human rights of the Muslims are being violated with abandon. He said that so-called Nobel Laureate is silent on the brutalities being committed on the citizens of her country. He said that she waged a long struggle for democratic and political rights. She even went to jail. He said that she should speak up on the plight of the Rohingyas in her country. He said that the violation of the human rights is no more secret. The extent of barbarism is out in the open, adding that it is high time that the UN moved to check violence and establish peace.
