19-member PAT committee constituted to make protest successful
Pakistan Awami Tehreek has constituted 19-member committee with a mandate to make the countrywide anti-government movement successful and make contact drive with workers more effective under the leadership of its Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur. It will oversee matters regarding the protest which is being staged in seven cities in the first including in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, and Faisalabad.
The decision to set up the committee was taken in a meeting of Central Working Council yesterday on the direction of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri, which was duly notified. In addition to Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, the committee consists of Khawaja Amir Farid Koreja, Ahmad Nawaz Anjum, Bashrat Jaspal, Brig. (r) Muhammad Mushtaq, Fayyaz Ahmed Warraich, Sajid Bhatti, Shahzad Rasool, Rafique Najam, Tanveer Khan, Jawad Hamid, Noorullah Saddiqi, Afnan Babar, Mazhar Alvi, Irfan Yousaf, Mir Asif Akbar, Imran Shaukat, Rashid Shahzad, and Sohail Ahmad Raza.
Speaking on the occasion, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that we waited for two years for justice in the Model Town case but the same was not administered. He said that we have presented all facts in the court of law as to who ordered the Model Town carnage, who got it executed and which ministers and police office played their part in this gory incident. He said that the Army Chief got the FIR registered and he should now play his role for provision of justice in the matter. He asked as to what is there in the Justice Najfi Commission report that the government is reluctant to make it public?
Meanwhile, a meeting of PAT Central Punjab was held with Basharat Jaspal in the chair in which strategy to bring in more and more people in the protest march and sit-in in Lahore, Chiniot and Faisalabad was discussed. A coordination council was also formed on the occasion. Khawaja Amir Fareed Koreja, Ahmad Nawaz Anjum, Raja Zahid, Ch. Afzal Gujjar, Ishtiaq Hanif Mughal and Hafiz Ghulam Fareed also spoke on the occasion.
