PAT (Quetta) holds demonstration to protest Panama leaks
PAT (Quetta chapter) organized a demonstration in front of the Quetta Press Club on May 2 to protest the mega corruption of rulers and offshore companies and non-provision of justice in the Model Town case. The protest was jointly led by Bakhtiar Ahmad Rind, president of Quetta Division, and Ashraf Shah Qadri, provincial chief organizer Balochistan. In addition to the PAT workers, a large number of people and members of the civil society attended the demonstration. The protesters were carrying placards and banners with anti-corruption slogans written on them.
The speakers condemned the corruption and money laundering of the first family in their speeches and demanded of the rulers to tender resignation. They also condemned the police brutality perpetrated in Model Town two years ago in which 14 innocent people including two women were martyred and around 100 sustained injuries. They said that the government should not think that we have forgotten the brutality. They said that they cannot be disloyal to the blood of the martyrs. They held that the government is directly responsible for these killings. They vowed that we would continue to seek justice for the martyrs.
The speakers also expressed their solidarity with Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri and said that we would take this struggle to its logical conclusion under his leadership. They said that the foundations of this so-called democratic government have been rendered hollow as a result of the Islamabad sit-in.
Ashraf Shah Qadri, provincial chief organizer of PAT, Bakhtiar Ahmad Rind, president of Quetta Division, Muhammad Ismail Noorani, president of PAT Quetta, Pir Habibullah Chishti, provincial Amir MQI, Aurangzeb Chaudhry, Ataullah Baloch, youth coordinator, Zain Najeebullah Baloch, and others spoke on the occasion.
