PAT (Multan) holds demonstration for resignation of the PM
Pakistan Awami Tehreek Multan organized a demonstration to protest the mega corruption of the ruling family in the backdrop of the Panama leaks on April 15. The demonstration was led by the provincial president of PAT Punjab Fayyaz Warriach, whereas Zubair A Khan, Ch Qamar Abbas Dhool, Rao Muhammad Arif Rizvi, Rao Waqar Ahmad, Yasir Irahd, Major (r ) Muhammad Iqbal Chughtai, Mumtaz Noon, Idrees Ansari, Ch Javed Bandesha, Mahr Fida Hussain, Muhammad Akram Gujjar, Rao Azmat Ali were also present on the occasion. A large number of PAT workers including women participated in the demonstration in large number.
Addressing the demonstration, Ch Fayyaz Warraich said that the Panama papers have exposed the ruling family. He said that manifest proofs of corruption have come to the fore. He said that corruption and money laundering are economic terrorism. He said that the Panama leaks are no joke and their authenticity is accepted at the international level. He said that the leaks not only brought Pakistan into disrepute globally but also robbed the PM of the justification to stay on in power. He said that since the PM has no moral authority to continue, therefore we demand of him to tender his resignation and present himself for the investigation. He said that as long as the PM continues to hold office, fair and transparent investigation is not possible. He said that PAT has launched the ‘resignation campaign’ which will continue till the PM actually tenders the resignation.
Dr Zubair A Khan, while speaking on the occasion, said that the nation cannot allow the joke to be cracked on them in the name of the commissions. He said that the report of the judicial commission on the Model Town tragedy has not been released to date. He said that those who shed the blood of the innocent people do not deserve any clemency.
Ch Qamar Abbas Dhool said that while the coffers of the rulers are being filled, the people continue to remain hungry and destitute. He said that the farmer community has paid the real price and every voice for raising the prices of wheat has fallen on the deaf ears. He said that the rulers cannot get away from accountability.
