Spend on people not bridges, roads: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri advises government
PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that the so-called democratic rulers of atomic Pakistan should take steps to save children of Thar from dying. He said that if the federal and provincial governments are helpless and clueless, they should request the international donors for help. He said that the deaths of more than 100 children in a span of one month are quite disturbing.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri expressed these views while talking to Syed Amjad Ali Shah, Director of Minhaj Welfare Foundation, from Toronto on telephone yesterday. He also directed the MWF for immediate measures for provision of medicine, food and clean drinking water in Thar. He said that the democratic governments spend the national resources on welfare of the people instead of wasting them on luxurious projects in the whole civilized world but it is other way round in Pakistan. He said that national wealth is being squandered on the construction bridges, roads and metro buses instead of spending them on welfare of the people.
Dr Qadri said that the news of children dying due to shortage of ventilators in hospitals and the patients of dengue and swine flue have been doing the round but the situation fails to move the rulers. He said that people want such a pro-people system and democratic government which feels their pain, adding that such a system will come into being as a result of revolutionary struggle.
Syed Amjad Ali Shah informed the PAT Chairman that 350 water pumps have been installed in Thar at a cost of millions of rupees in one year under the banner of the Minhaj Welfare Foundation. He said that mega project of tube well is underway. He said that emergency steps will be taken for provision of food, medicine and clean drinking water in the light of directions of the PAT Chairman.
