Corruption was name of the game in 2015: Khurram Nawaz Gandapur
PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has slammed the government for its refusal to lower the prices of POL products. He said that the prices of POL products have come to their lowest ever mark but the Prime Minister has continued with his anti-people and pro-business policies.
The PAT Secretary General expressed these views while talking to media men at the central secretariat yesterday. He said that scandals of Rs. 500 billion came to the surface during 2015 but the institution responsible for accountability did not mete out punishment to anyone. He said that corruption of Rs. 1 billion in Corridor project and Rs. 110 billion in circular loans were unearthed. In the same manner, embezzlement of billions of rupees was traced in Nandipur power project and Rawalpindi metro bus. Mega scandal of Rs. 59 billion was spotted in LPG scam with reference to king Iqbal. Rs. 400 million were spent on pursuing corruption cases of former President Asif Ali Zardari.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the government has deprived the masses of benefit of Rs. 2 billion by refusing to bring down the prices of POL products. He said that every citizen of the nation has been further pushed down the poverty trap through new loans of Rs. 1000 billion. He said that the government undermined the foundation of democracy by refusing to bring about electoral reforms in 2015 despite its avowed commitment. He said that 25 children died in children hospital due to shortage of ventilators, which is a matter of immense shame for the whole nation and the government. He said that 532 demonstrations were staged against the actions of the government in 2015. He said that the year was however very wonderful for the government high-ups who filled their coffers with money.
