Vast disconnect between priorities of rulers & needs of masses: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri

Talking to various delegations that called on him at his residence yesterday, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that new provinces will have to be created for control on terrorism and improvement of good governance. He said that people are more interested in Rs. 20 per kg flour than Rs. 640 million per kilometer Motorway. He said that the bigger provinces have been reduced to huge consumer markets for the businessmen-turned-rulers. He said that remote-controlled Election Commission and one-man show are among the principal reasons of near collapse of the system. He made it clear that our peaceful and constitutional struggle against the oppressive and corrupt system will continue unabated.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the PAT workers offered great sacrifices in their struggle against the coercive system. He said the problems we flagged during the sit-in are being talked about by all and sundry today. He asked as to what kind of democracy it is in which no institution is ready to dispense justice without approval of the rulers. He said that the Model Town tragedy is its most glaring example. He said that mega projects of the government are mega corruption cases, adding that there is a vast disconnect between the priorities of the rulers and the needs of the masses.

Those who called on Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri at his residence in Model Town included the office holders of MSM, MYL, MWL and Minhaj Ulama Council. He said that those spending billions of rupees of the nation on construction of orange trains, metro buses and motorways do not have any understanding of people’s sufferings. He said that the children are dying in hospitals for want of emergency medicines and ventilators; the educated youth are forced to commit robberies to make their both ends meet; educational institutions are devoid of basic facilities and teachers; and the hundreds of industrial units are closing down on account of continuing electricity crisis with massive lay-offs but the rulers consider construction of mega projects as their top priority.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that people’s lot will neither improve under this system and democracy nor the country will be able to progress. He said that those who refused to accept the presence of Daesh are now confessing their incompetence by giving news of their arrests and thus spreading fear in the society. He said that it appears that Daesh also seems to finding some space in South Asia, adding that infection of terrorism is still present in our polity. He emphasized unless this infection is cured, the claims to eliminate terrorism will turn out to be an eye-wash. He said that the terrorists have gone underground due to fear of military operation but added in the same breath that they will be eliminated for good through a combination of Zarb-e-ilm and good governance, a fact which is not in sight at the moment. He said that if the NAP was implemented in a half-backed manner, the fruits of Operation Zarb-e-Azb will not stay intact for long. He said that terrorists have made their presence felt by carrying out an act of terrorism in Mardan.
