Corruption to be order of day if accountability not carried out: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri
PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that Pakistan is probably the only country of the world whose entire leadership is involved in corruption and wanted in these cases. He said that our institutions are weak, mafias are strong and the law is subject to turns and twists by the ruling elite. He said that if merciless operation was not carried out against terrorists, the fruits of Operation Zarb-e-Azb will not be able to remain intact and the national wealth will continue to be laundered offshores through boats.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri expressed these views while talking to central leaders of MYL, MSM, and MWL on telephone yesterday. He said that it is unfortunate that whether it is the former Prime Minister, Chief Minister or serving Ministers, all of them have notoriety of being involved in corruption of billions of rupees, abuse of power and have stains of incompetence. He said that the institutions whose job is to hold the corrupt accountable have played the role of facilitator. He asked what message of public service this corrupt and incompetent leadership can give the educated youth.
Dr Qadri said that the facts and figures he presented regarding nepotism, corruption, lawlessness, exhortation, and money laundering perpetuated by the so-called political leadership, the national institutions are testifying to their accuracy today. He, however, underlined the need of taking the action against corruption to its logical conclusion. He said there can be no better opportunity than what is available at hand to get rid of profiteers and plunderers. He said that Model Town tragedy is more important than a legal action initiated on the construction of an illegal wall around Jatti Umra, adding that June 17 was the day when 14 innocent people were martyred in broad day light in the presence of media and 85 of them were injured. He said that fascism was demonstrated by depriving the heirs of martyrs of their right to justice at the same time.
Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that a leadership that is involved in killing its own citizens and looting national resources can do no good to the nation. He said that one of the ministers who is involved in mega corruption case and is wanted by NAB is busy in foreign tour with the Punjab Chief Minister with full official protocol. He said that if institutions responsible for delivery of accountability are serious, then they should stop cracking such jokes with the nation.
