Hazrat Umar (RA) occupies a unique position in Islam: Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani
Central Amir of MQI Sahibzada Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani has said that Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA), the second great Caliph of Islam, occupies such a unique position which may not be anyone else’s share in this mortal world. He said that Hazrat Umar (RA) was counted among the brave of the Makkah. He said that the Holy Prophet (SAW) particularly prayed to Allah Almighty to strengthen Islam either through Umar bin Khitab or Umar bin Hasham, adding that this prayer was instrumental in converting Huzrat Umar (RA) to Islam. He said that his title ‘Farooq’ refers to a person who can clearly distinguish between right and wrong.
Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani expressed these views while addressing a conference in connection with martyrdom day of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA) at the MQI central secretariat. Allama Rana Muhammad Idrees, Allama Ain-ul-Haq Baghdadi, Allama Ijaz Malik, Mufti Irshad Saeedi, Allama Yasir Naseem, Hafiz Ghulam Farid, Allama Usman Sialvi and others were also present on the occasion.
Mentioning meritorious services Hazrat Umar (RA) rendered for cause of Islam, Faiz-ur-Rehman Durrani said that the second Caliph launched the Islamic calendar for the first time and termed Muharram-ul-Haram as the first month of Islamic year. He said that his reign of rule is conserved as the age of Islamic conquests. He said that Hazrat Umar (RA) had a clear idea of superiority of principles and truth, adding that we should follow him in his steps to establish a system of justice, morality, character, education and training.
