PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that sitting of Pakistan and Afghanistan Army leadership on the same table is a welcome development and a game-changing move, which will go a long way in aligning efforts for elimination of terrorism from the Af-Pak region. He said that the meeting will deliver a gift of peace to the millions of inhabitants of the region and those conspiring to damage peace will be dealt a severe blow.
The PAT leader made these remarks while talking to party ticket holders contesting polls in cantonment boards the other day. He said that this positive development was made possible due to charismatic personality of Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif who attained the impossible by fostering greater cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He said that it is a matter of great satisfaction that the leadership of Pakistan Army is in the hands of such a General who is speaking in the form of decisions in the theatre of war and that he enjoys confidence and trust of the whole nation, media and the military. He said that the Army Chief is using this confidence and trust to ensure national security by fighting all challenges.
The PAT Secretary General said that the war being fought to flush out terrorism will undergo a great setback if the role of military courts is confined. He said that terrorists who played havoc with the lives of thousands of citizens do not deserve any clemency in the name of human rights. He said that Pakistan is in a state of war, adding that extraordinary decisions are made in extraordinary circumstances. He said that there are scores of examples wherein the countries championing human rights took such critical decisions as establishment of Guantanamo Bay for sake of security of their people.
