JIT constituted on will of Chief Minister only: PAT Punjab
Reacting to the statement of provincial minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, PAT Punjab President Basharat Aziz Jaspal has said that Joint Investigation Team (JIT) was constituted on the will of the Punjab Chief Minister and PAT was not consulted on it. He said that the provincial minister told a lie just to please his boss, adding that the blood of the martyrs would not go in vain. He said that PAT would hold such protest rallies on return of PAT chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri to the country that the rulers would not find any place to hide themselves. He said that it is also not correct that we want JIT only to be headed by an officer from KPK, stating further that the government proposed a name of police officer from Karachi, to which we agreed as well but the government backtracked on its commitment later on. He said that we would not accept such a JIT which is constituted without the support and concurrence of heirs of the martyrs.
The PAT Punjab President expressed these views while talking to various delegations of party workers from Multan, Sahiwal, Arifwala and Pakpattan in the party’s provincial secretariat in Model Town yesterday. Fayyaz Warriach, Mushtaq Nonari, Rao Arif Rizvi, Mushtaq and others were also present on the occasion. He said that struggle to organize PAT up to the grassroots level continues with full pace, adding that PAT would emerge as active and strong party in the next elections.
Basharat Jaspal said that the journalists who speak the truth are being handcuffed and the disabled who demand their rights are baton-charged. He said that the rulers are inviting God’s wrath due to their draconian actions. He said that political parties of Pakistan are not doing politics for the people rather playing politics with them, further stating that the so-called Parliament has been busy protecting the interests of the elite and powerful instead of legislating for the prosperity of the poor. He said that the practice to sacrifice national interests for the sake of personal ones has reached its height.
The PAT Punjab President said that real democracy has been muzzled by promoting the culture of winning horses instead of politics of manifesto and democracy has been reduced to ritual of elections only. He said that had political elite taken their job seriously and spent modicum of their time on improving lot of masses that they spend for their material development, the country would not have been stuck up in a strait-jacket today. He said that oppressive and elitist system is the major hurdle in the way of middle class, and educated people with the result that only 2% elite are able to come to power again and again.
Basharat Aziz Jaspal asked the people to support PAT to change nation’s destiny and achieve prosperity. He said that a leadership that is slave to foreigners intellectually cannot even think of changing destiny of the nation, adding that if people really want to bring about change, they should decide so immediately because we have already wasted 67 precious years. He said that the whole nation would have to replicate the same role once again which they played at the time of establishment of Pakistan, for this they need to join a movement which is aware of national problems and whose leadership is capable of resolving them.
