Qadri asks US not to support ‘corrupt system’ in Pakistan
LAHORE: PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri asked the United States to withdraw its support to the corrupt system in Pakistan, saying the rulers’ corruption had destroyed the institutions of the country.
Those who promised to bring back plundered public wealth of opponents from abroad during election campaigns, joined hands with opponents after polls to commit more corruption, he said while addressing Pakistani community at a convention in New York, says a press release issued on Saturday.
PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri held corruption as the basic reason of poverty, unemployment and the poor deprived of their basic rights including education and health facilities.
Qadri promised to provide social, economic and judicial facilities to every person at his doorsteps after bringing the promised revolution.
He said the government was creating hurdles in holding local bodies elections, because the rulers knew that new census, voters list and delimitation of constituencies would eventually lead to general elections.
He said the local bodies remained suspended for the last seven years along with the Article 140A and other related articles.
He invited overseas Pakistanis to form a ‘Union of Overseas Pakistanis’ for protecting their rights in Pakistan.
Qadri said his party would safeguard the rights and honour of the overseas Pakistanis, adding that they would also be given voting right in Pakistan.
