It’s ridiculous: Qadri
ISLAMABAD: Demanding an immediate resignation from Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and his whole team, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leader Tahirul Qadri Friday rejected the face-saver “sacking” of Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah as far too inadequate and overmuch ridiculous. “Giving marching ordering to just Sanaullah, who is a mere pawn in the hands of all-powerful Sharif brothers, is absolutely not enough, at all”, Dr Qadri said while talking to private TV channel. He said Sanaullah had not been sacked but rather sent on a honeymoon to chill out. “He will be back in the game as soon as his vacation ends”, Dr Qadri said. He said that Shahbaz had admitted before the whole nation that innocent blood was shed in Lahore. “On moral grounds, the whole chain of command from chief executive, who issued the orders, to the cops, who executed them, should step down over an incident as grave as Model Town tragedy”, Qadri demanded of CM Punjab. Dr Qadri further said Shahbaz Sharif’s resorting to these damage-controlling tactics had endorsed our stand. “It has now been established by CM Punjab’s ‘tearjerker’ of a press conference that he is under nerve-wracking pressure, because he has a guilty conscience. It evidences that he is responsible for the heart-rending inhumanities perpetrated outside Minhajul Quran Trust secretariat”, said the reformist cleric.
Qadri advised CM Punjab to refrain from hamming it up. “Shahbaz Sharif better stop being so theatrical and simply resign as it was he who called the shots and not Sanaullah”, a surefooted Qadri said. PAT leader Hassan Mohiuddin, in a press conference, said persons nominated in the FIR against the Lahore incident should immediately be arrested. Addressing a press conference, Mohiuddin said that the Model Town incident was the worst example of state terrorism and barbarism. He demanded that false cases registered against PAT’s workers be withdrawn. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other officials nominated in MuQ’s FIR should step down.
He called for the establishment of a three-member commission of the Supreme Court to investigate the issue. He also demanded an unbiased inquiry into the killing of MQM’s lawmaker Tahira Asif. Before addressing a press conference, the PAT had a consultative meeting with representatives of different political parties on Model Town carnage. The PAT said a joint committee be formed comprising officials of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), Intelligence Bureau and MI to probe the incident. PAT demanded law minister Punjab and chief minister Punjab to immediately resign. Model Town incident is the example of extreme oppression, Mohiuddin said while reading out a party statement. PAT demanded that all its workers/supporters should be released and recovered at the earliest. At least nine people, including two women, were killed and over 100 injured as police allegedly opened fire at workers of Tahirul Qadri-led Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) outside Minhajul Quran Secretariat in Model Town on Tuesday. The clashes began as police went to remove the ‘illegal’ security structures from the office and residence of Tahirul Qadri in Model Town on Monday night at around 2:30am, arguing that the local people had complained of troubles due to the barricades, reports said. The PAT workers tried to abort the effort, inviting severe shelling by the riot police.
