PAT blasts government for inaction and incisiveness on key challenges
Central President of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz, has said that the country has been confronted with several challenges and difficulties both at the external and internal levels. He said that there is no doubt about the fact that the present government inherited a number of challenges, adding that what was worrisome was the fact that these problems had continued to grow in number and intensity thereby assuming dangerous proportions due to the government’s inaction and lack of political will. He said that the government needed to employ wisdom and foresight to resolve these problems, further maintaining that when the crunch came, the government was not only found dithering but also wanting in capacity and quacking decision-making. The result of this indecisiveness is that these terminal problems had enveloped the entire nation in their deadly grasp.
PAT President expressed these views while addressing a meeting of Central Executive Council of PAT. Bashrat Aziz Jaspal, Ch Afzal Gujjar, Jawad Hamid, Aqil Malik, Tanvir and Azam Sandhu were also present on the occasion.
Sheikh Zahid Fayyaz said that unhindered intervention of the foreign powers in internal issues of Pakistan and the latter’s acceptance of loan on stringent conditionalities was an attack on the self-esteem of the nation. He said that recurring hike in electricity tariff, poverty, inflation, unemployment, terrorism, kidnappings and violence are some of the key challenges that had increased people’s sense of insecurity. He said that it was the government’s foremost responsibility to find a solution to these pressing issues without any fail.
PAT President demanded of the governments, both provincial and federal, to come up with solid and key action plans to address these challenges in an upfront manner. He said that such a broad-based and proactive response mechanism would help the people gauge the government’s seriousness and interest in resolving their problems. He said that pat had already apprised the nation about the fact that no change would come about as a result of elections. He said that if the people wanted positive change, they should heed the call of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri and become part of caravan for change.
