Annual collective marriage ceremony under MWF today
Collective marriage ceremony of 23 couples, an annual event organized by Minhaj Welfare Foundation, will be held in Minhaj University Campus, Township, on Sunday. All arrangements have been made in this regard. 775 girls belonging to poor households have so far been married off in such ceremonies held under the patronage of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.
According to Syed Amjad Ali Shah, Deputy Director of Minhaj Welfare Foundation, every bride would be gifted household stuff of worth 1.5 lacs. He said that arrangements were also made for marriage feast for 60 guests per couple. Two non-Muslim couples will also be part of the central ceremony. Religious scholars of both Muslim and non-Muslim communities will solemnize Nikah and perform other marriage-related rituals.
He said that marriage of girls is a social issue. He said that girls of marriageable age grow old because their parents cannot afford the expenses. He said that MWF launched this initiative of mass marriage ceremonies on instructions of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.
