PAT concerned on situation in Karachi
President of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi has said that the entire nation is concerned on the deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi. He said that both the federal and provincial governments would have to shun expediency and tackle law and order problem in an upfront manner through a clearly delineated strategy.
He added that the unending wave of target killing, violence, terrorism and killing of religious scholars was an organized conspiracy against integrity and unity of the country. The situation calls for effective and coherent plan to improve law and order situation in the financial capital of Pakistan.
Dr Raheeq Abbasi expressed these views while talking to a delegation of PAT workers from Karachi who called on him in his office in Lahore the other day.
Dr Abbasi said that gradual erosion of writ of the state the country in general and Karachi in particular was not less than a tragedy. He said that these scourges were a threat to national security, warranting well thought out and coordinated response on the part of all institutions tasked with maintenance of security and law and order. He said that people were unsafe in the provincial capital, which bespoke of failure of the police and other concerned organizations.
Emphasizing the need of peace in Karachi, PAT President said that the situation over there had domino effect in the rest of the country. He said that if peace is established in Karachi, it would lead to peace and improved law and order situation in the rest of the country.
