Hindu community declares its support for Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri’s agenda

Pakistan’s minority communities are also deprived of legal, democratic and constitutional rights due to current electoral system. All minorities explicitly express disenchantment with this system and demand change in it immediately, for doing so would enable the country to be on trajectory of sustainable growth and development.

Dr Munawar Chand, President of Pakistan Hindu Welfare Association, expressed these views at the head of a delegation while talking to Sohail Ahmad Raza, Director of MQI’s Interfaith Relations in Lahore today. Pundit Nawab Chand, Suraish Kumar, and other Hindu leaders were also present on the occasion.

Dr Munawar Chand said that the Hindu community supported Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri’s slogan of saving the state, not politics and would welcome him on his arrival in Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Sohail Ahmad Raza said that the system currently in operation in the country was not a democracy rather it was superimposed upon the masses to serve a particular agenda of vested interests. He said that it was impossible to have real, responsive and effective democracy in a country with low literacy rate and non-existent social security net. He said that 23rd of December would be instrumental in reinvigorating hope among the minority communities.
