An important meeting of the Awami Tajir Ittehad was held at its Central Secretariat in Lahore, where participants held detailed consultations on the upcoming Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry elections, issues confronting the business community, and the electoral strategy.

The meeting unanimously announced the alliance’s full support for the PIAF-Anjum Nisar Group. It was decided that the Awami Tajir Ittehad and the PIAF-Anjum Nisar Group would contest the Lahore Chamber elections jointly in the broader interests of the business community. Shahzad Khan, Senior Vice President of the Awami Tajir Ittehad, will serve as the joint candidate of the two groups, and a vigorous election campaign will be conducted to ensure the success of the Anjum Nisar Group.

Addressing the meeting, Pakistan Awami Tehreek Secretary-General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that traders and industrialists were the backbone of the national economy. Resolving their problems and providing a conducive environment for business, he said, were essential for strengthening the national economy.

He said the alliance between the Awami Tajir Ittehad and the PIAF-Anjum Nisar Group was aimed at securing the collective rights of the business community, promoting economic stability, and ensuring strong and effective representation.

PIAF Patron-in-Chief Mian Anjum Nisar welcomed the support extended by the Awami Tajir Ittehad. He said that the business community was currently facing numerous challenges, including high electricity and gas costs, taxation, inflation, and rising operating expenses. In such circumstances, he added, unity among trade organizations was the need of the hour.

Mian Anjum Nisar said that PIAF (Anjum Nisar Group) would continue to play its role in highlighting traders’ concerns on a priority basis and effectively raising their voice before the government and relevant institutions.

Chairman of the Awami Tajir Ittehad Haji Muhammad Ishaq said that protecting the rights of the business community was their foremost priority. He said the alliance had been formed to ensure strong, dignified, and effective representation of traders and industrialists.

He reiterated that Shahzad Khan was the joint candidate of both groups, adding that his success would represent the success of the business community’s unity and collective struggle.
