Flag-hoisting ceremony held at Pakistan Awami Tehreek Central Secretariat on the 79th Independence Day

A special ceremony was held at the Central Secretariat of Pakistan Awami Tehreek to mark Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day. The national flag was hoisted, a cake was cut, and a special prayer was offered for Pakistan’s security, stability, prosperity, development and national unity. Central, provincial and Lahore-level office-bearers, workers and officials of Pakistan Awami Tehreek and Minhaj-ul-Quran participated in the ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Secretary General of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, said that Pakistan is a safe and dignified home for hundreds of millions of people. He said the country is the fruit of the great sacrifices made by its forefathers and a trust entrusted to the nation by the martyrs. “Freedom is an invaluable blessing from Allah Almighty. We must appreciate this blessing and play our role in ensuring the country’s security, stability and progress,” he said.

He said the entire nation must work together to protect the motherland from every threat and, in accordance with the vision of the Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, strive to transform Pakistan into an Islamic, welfare-oriented, peaceful and prosperous state. “Every challenge can be overcome through the strength of unity, brotherhood and national solidarity,” he added.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that August 14 is a landmark in Pakistan’s national history. It was the historic day when the long struggle for freedom by the Muslims of the subcontinent reached its destination. He said such days hold extraordinary significance in the history of nations because they inspire future generations to learn from the past, rectify their mistakes and work with renewed determination to build a better future.

He said that the nation stands today at a critical juncture where it must draw guidance from the struggle, sacrifices and determination of its forefathers and move forward to secure a safe and brighter future for Pakistan.

He emphasized that the need of the hour is for the nation to pledge collectively to utilize all its capabilities for Pakistan’s development, prosperity and stability. Extremism, hatred, prejudice and divisions must be eliminated from society, while brotherhood, tolerance, justice and respect for human dignity must be promoted.

The Secretary General of Pakistan Awami Tehreek said that Pakistan’s stability depends upon strong national unity, the supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law, promotion of education, economic self-reliance and empowerment of the younger generation. “We must build a Pakistan where every citizen has equal opportunities for dignity, justice, peace, education and progress,” he said.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Muhammad Rafiq Najam, Colonel (Retd.) Khalid Javed, Jawad Hamid, Sardar Umar Daraz, Sohail Ahmed Raza, Chaudhry Afzal Gujjar, Tayyab Zia, Saeed Shah, Allama Ashfaq Chishti, Syed Mahmood-ul-Hassan Jafri, Khurram Shehzad, Muhammad Saqib Bhatti, and other central and provincial leaders, workers and office-bearers.
