Revocation of Occupied Kashmir’s Special Status Has Not Been Accepted by the Kashmiri People: PAT Secretary General

On the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir (Kashmir Exploitation Day), Pakistan Awami Tehreek Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the future of Kashmir is intrinsically linked to the will of the Kashmiri people. He stated that the people of Indian-administered Kashmir have neither accepted the revocation of the region’s special status nor can this unilateral action serve as a substitute for the resolutions adopted by the United Nations.

He said that the abolition of the special constitutional status of Indian-administered Kashmir constitutes a complete departure from, and violation of, international commitments and assurances. According to him, unilateral decisions regarding Kashmir neither diminish its international significance nor weaken the resolve of the Kashmiri people, whom he described as peaceful, courageous, and steadfast in their pursuit of freedom.

He further said that the nation reiterates its solidarity with the Kashmiri people and calls upon the United Nations to implement its adopted resolutions by enabling the Kashmiri people to exercise their right to self-determination and by ensuring the restoration of their fundamental human rights.
