The Entire Nation Mourns the Martyrdom of Innocent Children: Khurram Nawaz Gandapur
Pakistan Awami Tehreek stands in solidarity with the bereaved families

Secretary General of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the tragic roof collapse at a tuition centre in Kahna, Lahore, describing the loss of innocent children's lives as a national tragedy.
He extended his heartfelt condolences, sympathy, and solidarity to the bereaved families and prayed for the swift and complete recovery of the injured children.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that this heartbreaking incident is not merely the grief of a few families but a tragedy that has plunged the entire nation into mourning. He stressed that the loss of innocent lives demands immediate action by the government and relevant authorities to conduct emergency structural inspections of educational institutions, tuition centres, and other public buildings, particularly those that are old, dilapidated, or structurally unsafe. Appropriate measures, he said, must be taken against buildings that fail to meet essential safety standards.
The PAT leader emphasized that preventing such tragedies requires more than expressions of sorrow and condolence; it calls for concrete, effective, and sustained action. The government should undertake comprehensive safety audits of all public and private educational institutions and coaching centres, ensure strict enforcement of building regulations, and initiate legal proceedings against those found guilty of negligence or misconduct.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur further stated that safety initiatives should not be limited to inspections, penalties, or punitive measures. Instead, the government should introduce special assistance programmes for low-income families who lack the financial resources to repair or reconstruct their homes, shops, or commercial buildings. Penalizing residents living in unsafe structures is not a solution, he said. Rather, it is the state's responsibility to provide affordable financing, financial assistance, construction support, and technical guidance to enable citizens to make their homes and workplaces structurally safe.
He also called for a transparent investigation into the Kahna tragedy to identify those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice in accordance with the law, so that such heartbreaking incidents can be prevented in the future.
Concluding his statement, he prayed that Almighty Allah grant the innocent children who lost their lives the highest ranks in His mercy, bless their families with patience and strength, and grant the injured a speedy and complete recovery.
