A society that deprives workers of their rights can never prosper: Khurram Nawaz Gandapur
“If workers stop working, factories will shut down and fields will become barren.”
The Secretary General of Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, in his statement on the occasion of International Workers’ Day, said that the wheel of the economy turns through the labor of workers. A society that denies workers their rights can never be prosperous. He said if workers cease their labor, factories will close and agricultural lands will become desolate. It is through the hard work of laborers that prosperity exists in the homes of the wealthy, and it is their effort that transforms the darkness of poverty into the light of prosperity.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s Central Senior Vice President Mian Rehan Maqbool, Vice President Mian Zahid Islam, and Deputy Secretary General Mian Kashif, in a joint statement, said that the courage and perseverance of workers reflect national dignity. “We salute these silent builders and fighters,” they added.
Mian Rehan Maqbool stated that there is a need for a system in which workers cannot be exploited and where the children of laborers can receive higher education. Mian Zahid Islam said that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) declared the laborer to be a friend of Allah, and those who oppress such people are, in effect, opposing Allah.
Mian Kashif added that the day the state of Pakistan—along with its traders, industrialists, landlords, and affluent classes—begins to give workers their full due for their labor, that very day divine blessings will descend upon the land, and poverty will begin to transform into prosperity.
