Legitimate Demands of Blind Individuals Should Be Accepted: Khurram Nawaz Gandapur
Negligence of Authorities Forces Visually Impaired Individuals to Protest
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Secretary General of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), has declared the demands of blind individuals, who are protesting outside the Lahore Press Club for job security and new employment opportunities, as legitimate and called for their immediate acceptance.
In his statement, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that due to the negligence and indifference of the authorities and bureaucracy, visually impaired people are repeatedly forced to protest. To date, no comprehensive policy has been formulated for the welfare of the blind. In the past, it has been observed that the police, using traffic jams as an excuse, have treated blind individuals unjustly, bringing embarrassment to the nation globally.
The PAT Secretary General further stated that while special packages and facilities are provided for disabled individuals around the world, no such policy exists for blind people in Pakistan. He emphasized that our constitution highlights the need for the welfare of society’s vulnerable individuals. If the blind are asking for job security and new employment opportunities for their peers, there is nothing wrong with it. Their demands should be accepted without delay.
