Distributing laptops and offering internships without planning will not yield significant results

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Secretary General of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), has stated that the prosperous and secure social future of the youth is linked to Information Technology. He said that distributing laptops and conducting internship programs without clear objectives and merit will not achieve anything substantial. The government should strengthen institutions providing education in Information Technology. Laptops should be given only to students who are pursuing a BS in Information Technology from accredited educational institutions, and they should be provided with practical training.

The PAT Secretary General said that neighboring country, India, is earning billions of dollars from IT exports, while our exports in this sector are only in the millions. He said that the current Prime Minister, during his tenure as Chief Minister of Punjab, distributed hundreds of thousands of laptops worth billions of rupees; can anyone explain what benefits were achieved in this?

Instead of political and electoral motives, youth should be seriously trained in IT. There is a global demand for skilled workforce in the IT sector.The government should support organizations providing services in the IT sector, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur added.
