Shaykh-ul-Islam guiding Muslim community in Western countries in turbulent times: Khurram Nawaz Gandapur
Secretary General of Pakistan Awami Tehreek Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has stated that the recent organizational tour of Europe and South Asia by Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, the founder and patron-in-chief of Minhaj-ul-Quran International, will yield far-reaching social and religious benefits. He said Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri, acting as an ambassador of peace, is introducing the Muslim diaspora in Western countries to the prophetic teachings of unity, interfaith harmony, peace and respect for the law.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that in Hong Kong, Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri established the "Milli Majlis Seerat Hong Kong," a Council comprising scholars from all schools of thought, laying a foundation of unity and love, whose positive influence will likely spread to other regions as well.
Gandapur mentioned that in July and August, Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri addressed historic Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) conferences in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, which were attended by thousands of participants. These conferences, he said, conveyed the message that as Muslims, our progress and survival lie in unity, solidarity, and continuous effort.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur highlighted that Muslims in Western countries are facing extremist attitudes at a public level and are under social and economic pressure. In this context, Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri is guiding the Muslim community to uphold the principles of peaceful coexistence and avoid reacting superficially, always respecting the cultural traditions and laws of the societies they live in, while seeking guidance from the Holy Prophet's (PBUH) example.
The PAT Secretary General said Minhaj-ul-Quran is not only promoting the elimination of sectarianism abroad but also providing intellectual guidance to the expatriate community to tackle emerging challenges. Gandapur added that during the Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) conferences, Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri particularly advises the youth not to let the dazzling lights of the West dim the spiritual light within their hearts and minds, nor weaken their love for their homeland.
He mentioned that Shaykh-ul-Islam, in special sessions with civil society representatives and the Pakistani community, encourages them to send more remittances to help Pakistan during its difficult economic times and to always use legal channels for this purpose.
