How long will the people bear the extravagance of the rulers? PAT
Secretary General of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, has stated that the gas bills have set every household on fire. He said that even the homes with two rooms are receiving bills ranging from 40 to 50 thousand rupees. He urged the rulers to fear God, questioning how long the nation would bear the burden of the extravagance of bureaucrats and rulers. He said that in the face of skyrocketing inflation, the common man cannot afford the heavy bills of electricity and gas. He condemned the unjust increase of 2 percent in gas prices, stating that this cruel hike should be immediately withdrawn.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur criticized the policies hostile to the poor, asserting that they have robbed people of their right to live. He remarked on the notification allowing pharmaceutical companies to sell medicines at their desired prices, stating that medicine prices in Pakistan are already beyond the reach of the common man and the poor. He regretted that the prices of life-saving drugs are increasing day by day.
“Instead of facilitating treatment for the common man, the authorities are taking medicines from their reach, which is entirely unjust. Treatment has already become out of reach for the common man, and granting pharmaceutical companies the authority to set monopolistic prices is another injustice to the people,” he said.
He warned that the prices of thousands of medicines will soar even higher with this decision by the government.
The PAT Secretary General demanded of the government to immediately reconsider the decision and not align with the pharmaceutical mafias. He emphasized that the rulers should stop the further increase in drug prices, showing mercy on the plight of the oppressed poor people who are already suffering from injustice and inflation.
“Giving pharmaceutical companies a free hand to play with the lives of poor patients is by no means a suitable decision,” he explained.
Khurram Nawaz Gandapur stated that alleviating the people's difficulties and making their lives easier should be the government's fundamental goal. It would be better if this decision, made without considering public interest, is promptly reversed, he demanded.
