12 PAT workers acquitted by anti-terrorism court
The Lahore anti-terrorism court has acquitted 12 PAT workers on the basis of no evidence against them. FIRs were registered against them in the Faisal Town police station. Naeem-ud-Din Chaudhry Advocate appeared before the court on behalf of the PAT. He told the court that these 12 people were not nominated in the FIR. He said that they had come to Model Town Lahore to attend the prayer ceremony for the martyrs of Model Town. Police had already registered a fake FIR in which their names were also included but the charges were never framed against them.
Talking to the media after the hearing, Naeem-ud-Din Chaudhry Advocate said that the police could not present any evidence against the PAT workers during trial. He said that despite this, it has taken us eight years to prove the innocence of our workers. He said that the Police registered fake and bogus FIRs against the PAT leaders and workers. He prayed to the court to order acquittal of all people who were booked in fake FIRs by police.
