PAT's foundation-day ceremonies held across the country
The 33rd foundation day of Pakistan Awami Tehreek was celebrated across the country. The ceremonies were held in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Multan and other districts. The cake was cut and a special Dua was made for the safety, security and progress of the country.
Addressing the central foundation-day ceremony, PAT President Qazi Zahid Hussain said that when the sanctity of privacy is breached, it undermines the confidence in democracy. He said that the present system has promoted fascism in the name of democracy. He said that PAT has suffered the wounds of Model Town tragedy, adding that no institution has administered justice for the oppressed. He said that societies without justice can never gain dignity.
Secretary General PAT Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that there is no justice in the country. He said that PAT's struggle is for upholding supremacy of law and justice. He said that it has been eight years since the Model Town tragedy took place, adding that we have been going from pillar to post in search of justice. He said that no one has done anything to provide us justice. He asked how the country would function without justice.
President of PAT Central Punjab Mian Rehan Maqbool, President of Northern Punjab Qazi Shafique, Noor Ahmad Sahoo, Naseer Khan Jadoon, Raja Zahid Mahmood, and Arif Chaudhry also attended various foundation-day ceremonies in different districts and expressed the resolve that they would continue the struggle to change the system through peaceful means in light of the vision of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. He said the day the people refused to accept the system of oppression will be the day when they would be rid of it.
Meanwhile, PAT Lahore chapter also held a foundation-day ceremony. Expressing his views on the occasion, Dr Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, President Lahore, said that the Quaid-i-Azam made Pakistan for the protection of the rights of the weak and the poor. He said that it is unfortunate that the privileged class dominated the country and its resources.
Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry said that the powerful have exploited the rights of the poor. He said that they remain unheard. He said that we want the kind of Pakistan where every citizen enjoys equality.
A cake was cut on the occasion and the ceremony came to a conclusion with Dua.
