PAT takes out a rally in support of Palestinians
PAT took out rallies across the country to express its solidarity with people of Palestine who are braving the Israeli atrocities with extreme courage. Addressing a rally in front of the Lahore Press Club, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that Israel resorted to subversive activities within a day of the announcement of the ceasefire. Israeli police threw grenades on people gathered in Al-Aqsa Mosque for prayers. He asked as to why the guarantors of peace are keeping silent on the latest round of aggression. He said that the durable solution of Palestine-Israel dispute lies in the implementation of the UN resolution in letter and spirit. He said that whenever any crisis involving Muslim nations erupts or a war is imposed on any of Islamic country, the UN Security Council fails to deliver on its obligations under its Charter.
Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry said in his address that Muslims have been disappointed by the role of the UNSC. He said that the viewpoint of Palestinians is internationally accepted and the international community cannot shirk its responsibility in walking the talk.
Sikandar Singh Khalsa, while addressing the PAT rally, stated that the atrocities against the Palestinian people should be stopped forthwith. He said that the UN resolutions spell out the abiding solution to the age-old dispute. Hafiz Ghulam Farid said that the reconstitution of the UNSC should be considered in light of contemporary realities and that the use of veto power does not conform to the democratic values and needs reassessment.
PAT Secretary Information Noorullah Siddiqui, Ishtiaq Hanif Mughal, Sohail Ahmad Raza, Altaf Randhawa, Saqib Bhatti, Rashid Chaudhry, Shafqat Ali Mughal, Ayesha Shabbir, Haji Farrukh, Noreen Alvi, and Faneeqa Nadeem also addressed the rally. A large number of people belonging to various walks of life attended the PAT solidarity rallies.
The PAT leaders demanded that the UN should carry out a damage need assessment and approve funds for the reconstruction of Gaza. He said that all the hurdles placed on the roads to Palestine should be removed and the UN member countries should be given an access to Palestine to deliver relief aid. They expressed their disappointment at the fact that the UN Security Council dashed hopes once again as Palestinians got martyred. They said that the security of human rights is the core function of the UN system.
PAT Secretary Information Noorullah Siddiqui stated in his speech that there is always talk galore of putting an end to violence but rarely do such pronouncements get implemented. He said that the spilling of human blood will not stop through statements only.
