PAT Lahore arranged a special ceremony by the name of “Pakistan Day and our responsibilities” to mark the 23rd March. Addressing the ceremony, senior PTI leader Ijaz Chaudhry said that connecting the young generation with the basis of Pakistan and making them aware of our national ideology is the responsibility of the political and religious leaders. He said that Pakistan came into being as a result of the ideology of Islam. He said that millions of Muslims launched the independence movement and rendered sacrifices for the creation of their new homeland. He said that Pakistan was created to live and it will till the Day of Judgment.
All guest speakers belonging to different political parties jointly sang the anthem “we are together under this one flag” by holding the flag and the audience also joined them in signing this beautiful song.
Ijaz Chaudhry said that if political leadership is honest and competent, the countries remain on track. He underlined the need for accountability from the top to the bottom for a corruption-free Pakistan. He said that the future of Pakistan is bright. He said that the leadership that established Pakistan was known for its honesty, truthfulness and transparency. He said that the Quaid-i-Azam is still alive in the hearts of his people due to his character.
The PTI leader said that when the corrupt lot is asked as to where they got their billions of assets from, they mind such questions and have preferred their personal interests to the national ones. He said that former rulers who deviated from the path laid out by the Quaid have undermined the basis of Pakistan.
Ijaz Chaudhry said that the PTI and PAT jointly struggled to make Pakistan corruption free. He said that the youth played a leading role in the independence movement, adding that it is unfortunate that the successive governments did not give the youth anything but disappointment and despair.
PAT Secretary Information Noorullah Siddiqi threw light on the importance of the 23rd March in keeping the spirit of nationalism alive and strengthening patriotism. He said that in order to make our youth aware of the objectives of the Pakistan movement and realize the dream of making Pakistan a welfare state, it is important that the sacrifices rendered during the freedom struggle are remembered; and conspiracies to fail Pakistan are foiled. He said that corruption, poverty, backwardness are generated in the absence of implementation of laws and the concept of rule of law becomes meaningless when there is no accountability. He said that justice in the Model Town case is a debt on the state of Pakistan. He said that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri worked very hard to establish that Islam is a religion of peace and harmony.
Arif Chaudhry, PAT’s central Coordinator, said in his remarks that the former rulers would consider the people as their slave. He said that they considered the rule of law the biggest hindrance in their way. He said that the politics of the Sharif brothers is based on keeping themselves out of the bounds of the law, adding that there can be no rule of law in the country unless the ruling elite also obeys laws. He said that no society can be called democratic unless the people, who are the spirit of democracy, become the decision makers in the national affairs.
Arif Chaudhry thanked all the guests for attending the Conference. PAT Lahore President Chaudhry Afzal Gujjar and General Secretary Shafaqat Mughal also spoke on the occasion.
