Announcement of legal reforms by NZ govt. worthy of emulation: Khurram Nawaz Gandapur

PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that following the Christchurch tragedy, the New Zealand Prime Minister announced that the guns laws will be changed in the country within the ten days of the reprehensible incident. He said that despite rendering sacrifices of 70,000 men, women and children, no comprehensive anti-terror policy has been worked out in Pakistan. He said that in the aftermath of the APS tragedy on December 16, 2014, all political parties of the country approved the National Action Plan (NAP) but despite the passage of over four years, the NAP has not been implemented in letter and spirit. He said that now we are hearing that the meeting of the representatives of the parliamentary parties has been convened on March 28 in this regard.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri designed peace curriculum consisting of dozens of books that have been published. In addition to this, the School of Peace and Religions has been set up in the Minhaj University Lahore on his instruction where students belonging to all faiths are being given education of interfaith harmony and civilizational understanding. He said that a Spiritualism Centre has also been established to promote the people-friendly teachings of the Sufis among the coming generations.

PAT Secretary General said that if we really want to make our society peaceful, then we will have to initiate this effort from our educational institutions including religious seminaries. He said unless the students understand the philosophy of peace, terrorism, and extremism will not be eradicated. He further stated that there is a need for a detailed counter-narrative of peace that should not be confined to the official documents and its implementation should be ensured.

Meanwhile, MQI Spokesperson said that Chairman MQI Supreme Council Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri will address the Quran Conference at Canal Palace in Faisalabad on March 20. He will also hold meetings with the political and religious personalities as well as the office bearers of the MQI.
